According to a report from lohud.com, the police cruiser was transporting two prisoners to the city jail when it hit a 58-year-old Yonkers man.
At the time of the accident, the police cruiser (belonging to the 4th Precinct ) was driving south on Nepperhan Avenue at Lake Avenue around 9 p.m. The vehicle collided with the pedestrian who was crossing said street. Investigators are currently trying to determine how the collision occurred specifically, whether the car hit the pedestrian or whether the pedestrian walked into the car.
This is not the first time Yonkers police officers have been connected to an alleged pedestrian accident; in January 2012, another women was allegedly hit by a Yonkers police car.
